Heat the olive oil in a small pan over medium heat, then add the sliced onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened and lightly golden, about 5–7 minutes.
Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant, then add the chopped tomatoes and a pinch of salt and pepper; simmer until the tomatoes break down into a chunky sauce, about 8–10 minutes.
Add the cooked beans to the pan, stir to coat in the tomato and onion mixture, and simmer gently until heated through and the flavors meld, about 5–7 minutes; taste and adjust seasoning before serving.
