Cook barley in salted water for 30 minutes until tender.
Mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, chicken eggs, half the onion, salt, and black pepper; shape into patties.
Brown the patties in butter for 8 minutes, then remove them from the pan.
Cook mushrooms and remaining onion for 5 minutes, then stir in flour.
Add beef broth and patties, then simmer for 10 minutes and serve with barley.
