Cook the pasta in salted water according to the package directions until al dente, then reserve a little cooking water.
Slice the onion, mince the garlic, and cut the chicken into bite-size pieces. Season the chicken with salt and black pepper.
Melt the butter in a skillet and cook the chicken for 5-6 minutes until golden.
Add the onion and garlic and cook for 3 minutes, then stir in the sour cream with a splash of pasta water.
Add the pasta and toss for 1 minute until the sauce coats it evenly.
