Whisk the egg with sugar in a bowl.
Add milk, cinnamon and salt and whisk until a smooth custard forms.
Dip the bread slices into the mixture and let them absorb the liquid briefly.
Turn the bread and coat the other side with the custard.
Melt butter in a frying pan over medium heat.
Place the soaked bread in the pan and fry until golden on the first side.
Turn the toast and cook the other side until golden and cooked through.
