Line a small dish or container with parchment paper and lightly grease it with a little butter or coconut oil.
Melt the dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl set over a small pot of gently simmering water, stirring until smooth, then remove from heat and add a tiny pinch of salt if using.
Slice the banana into thin rounds and arrange them in a single layer over the bottom of the prepared dish.
Pour the melted chocolate evenly over the banana slices, spreading it to cover them completely.
Chill in the refrigerator until firm enough to cut, about 20–30 minutes, then slice into small squares and serve.
