Prepare the broccoli by rinsing it under cold water and cutting it into bite-sized florets.
Bring a small amount of water to a simmer in a pot fitted with a steamer basket, making sure the water does not touch the basket.
Place the broccoli florets in the steamer basket, cover with a lid, and steam until the broccoli is bright green and just tender.
Transfer the steamed broccoli to a serving plate, drizzle with olive oil, and season with salt and black pepper to taste before serving.
